Achieve Healthy, Glowing Summer Skin with These 7 Tips

Summer is here. It’s time to hit the beach and have fun with your friends!

But wait. Have you been neglecting your skin the entire winter and now you are embarrassed to go out in bikini?

You found us just at the right time. To feel confident in your skin in summer, you have to take care of it.

Although there are some general rules you have to follow to make your skin look fabulous, like eating healthy and moisturizing. We, at Faveable, have prepared for you wonderful people, an essential guideline for looking your best at the beach this summer.

1. Antioxidant-rich Foods

We don’t want to give you a general guideline about eating healthy. Instead, we would just tell you exactly what to eat to get clear, glowing skin.

You need to be taking antioxidant-rich foods that will increase your collagen production so that your skin looks fresh and youthful. If you didn’t know before, collagen production reduces as you age.

Therefore, to avoid wrinkles and fine lines on your skin, consume a healthy dose of seafood, pineapple, oranges, lemons, strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, and green vegetables.

These foods increase collagen production in your body, resulting in improvement in skin texture, protection from harmful UV rays of the sun, and even prevention of inflammation in your body.

2. Water Therapy

We are made of water, and we continuously need water to survive and thrive. Water is needed not only to clean your skin but also to nourish the skin from within.

Now don’t be lazy and impulsive and choose sweet drinks from the vending machine over mineral water. Those drinks you are choosing over water are full of artificial and toxic ingredients, which will age you quickly, and worse, make you sick in the long run.

Additionally, don’t expect the humidity in the air to take care of your dry skin. The humidity can make your skin dewy from the outside, but drinking water will sustain your skin from the inside.

On a positive note, by drinking lots of water, you are also reducing the extra weight you have gained over the winter. If you don’t like the simple taste of water, try these infused-water recipes for a sweet taste.

3. Exfoliate Your Skin

We have touched upon ways you can achieve healthier skin by nurturing it from within. Now we are going to focus on how you can improve its texture by nurturing it from outside.

Exfoliating your skin is so important. It’s not like just washing your face with a face wash every morning. Exfoliation will go one step further and cleanse your skin deeply.

It is sad but true that most of the exfoliating products in the supermarkets are made of unnatural ingredients. However, some products are made out of natural materials and are also not tested on animals.

You can do that, or make your own exfoliant at home with ingredients available in your kitchen! Make your pick from this awesome list of natural exfoliants

4. Natural Oils

The growing popularity of natural essential oils is insane. As more and more people are getting educated about natural skin care therapy, we are able to find more useful information about it everywhere.

You can purchase natural essential oils or make them yourself at home. Making them at home is safer, as you know what are the ingredients you are putting in there. If you don’t want to do that and would rather buy one from a shop, make sure it is a good, trusted brand.

Instead of applying lotion on your skin, apply these essential oils all over your skin after a shower. You can also do this before bedtime according to your preference. But make sure you apply natural oil onto your skin at least once a day.

5. Sleep Longer

Have you noticed that when you sleep longer, for about nine to ten hours, you wake up looking brighter than usual? Whenever you sleep for only a few hours, your skin tends to shrink and lose its brightness.

One of the best examples is of babies. They sleep pretty much all the time, and my goodness, God bless their skin!

In order to sleep well, you need to prepare the room. Make sure the sheets you are sleeping in are clean and allergen-free. Also, the room needs to have less light to encourage sleeping.

On the other hand, having fewer clothes or no clothes on can induce better sleep as well. Using an essential oil diffuser or candle will give you a sense of calm and help you fall asleep faster.

Some people have back pain, cramps, or migraines. These people really struggle with sleep.

Don’t you worry, though? The right essential oil, massage therapy, relaxing music, and a little bit of exercise before bedtime can help you sleep easily.

6. Nude Makeup

Unless it’s a glam night, go easy on makeup on other days. If you are going to the beach or to a casual hangout, wear less makeup.

Some people wear makeup to the gym. If you want your skin to stay healthy and glowing, you need to cut down the usage.

The best way is to learn how to apply ‘nude’ or ‘no makeup’ makeup. There are several YouTube videos on this. You should take advantage of those tutorials to learn about it.

The ‘no makeup’ makeup or ‘nude’ makeup is having makeup on, but less, so that it looks like you barely have anything on. To achieve this look, use BB cream or CC cream as a foundation, instead of regular foundation cream.

Instead of using eyeliner, just glue on some lashes, or apply mascara. Replace lipstick and lip gloss with chapstick or lip gel. Avoid using blush on, as it only makes people look crazy.

7. Protect Your Skin

If you want to have healthy, attractive skin, but you keep exposing it to pollutants all the time, it’s not going to work. By pollutants, we mean the sun, traffic congestion, toxic chemicals in beauty products, junk food, and smoking.

When you go out to have fun at the beach, don’t spend too much time under the sun. Vitamin D is great for your skin and bones, but the UV rays in the sun can cause skin diseases, like cancer, rashes, and burns.

You don’t want to spend a few years of your life treating diseases, do you? Instead, don’t overdo it when you’re out. Apply a lot of sunscreens, use an umbrella, or wear full sleeve, and full pants or skirts for protection.

Additionally, the pollution in the environment is lethal for your skin and health. The toxic fumes from vehicles are super toxic for your skin. To reduce damage to your skin and to minimize pollution from your city, ride bicycles to work or drive eco-friendly cars.

The same goes for commercial beauty products and junk food. They are not economical or ecological.

Women from historical times were able to look exquisite without using commercial beauty products or eating junk food. They also didn’t have to worry about traffic and vehicle emissions. Hope you got the point.

Final Thoughts

You will find a lot of articles about the skin on the internet. Some of them will give you good advice, while some are just repetitive. And almost nobody considers the impact of pollution on human skin.

Although people have been able to understand how pollution affects health, only a few people relate it to beauty. The beauty industry has been responsible for causing a lot of toxic waste and pollution in the past.

But now that times are changing and people are evolving, we must reconsider the consequence of our past lifestyle. Instead of encouraging commercial beauty products that contain harmful chemicals, if we encourage the use of natural products, we can make more positive changes in the world.

So, we hope this little takeaway was able to affect your life positively. All the best for summer!
